A Russian man is being tried in America on charges of smuggling microelectronics to Russia

The United States judicial authorities said in a statement on Thursday (February 29) that a Russian man was found guilty of smuggling large quantities of US-made military-grade microelectronics to Russia.Maxim Marchenko, 51, was arrested in September last year. He and two other Russians were accused of using fake companies to hide the purchase of microelectronics.Marchenko pleaded guilty in New York court on Thursday to one count of money laundering, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and one count of smuggling from the United States, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 6.
