Taliban distributes food aid to 3,426 needy families in Takhar

Local Taliban officials in Takhar province say they have distributed food aid to 3,426 needy families in the province.

The Taliban’s Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Takhar said that the aid was distributed to families in the districts of Hazrat Samut, Kulfgan, and Namak Ab.

The aid was distributed with the financial assistance of the World Food Program (WFP). The aid included flour, oil, lentils, and plumpy (a nutritious food for children).

The Taliban has been distributing food aid to needy families in Afghanistan since taking control of the country in August 2021. The WFP has been a major partner in these efforts.

The distribution of food aid is a positive step by the Taliban, but it is important to note that it is not enough to address the needs of the millions of Afghans who are facing hunger. The international community must continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan to prevent a major humanitarian crisis.
