US Lawmaker to Challenge Trump-Putin Diesel Agreement
Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has said he will challenge the recent agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin for the purchase of diesel fuel. According to a report by Axios early on Sunday, October 11, the lawmaker pledged on Saturday to force a House vote to block the purchase. Fitzpatrick, who co-chairs the congressional Ukraine Caucus, stated he would introduce the “Ronald Reagan Peace Through Strength Act” and compel a vote using a discharge petition.
“This legislation will be brought to the floor via discharge and it will pass with an overwhelming majority,” Fitzpatrick said. This move comes after Trump announced on Friday that Russia would immediately supply over 300,000 tons of diesel to US and global markets.
