TikTok faces backlash over alleged censorship of anti-Trump content

جنجال در تیک تاک: اتهام سانسور محتوای ضد ترامپ و نام «اپستین»

Video giant TikTok is embroiled in a major controversy following accusations of censoring political content in the US. Users claim that direct messages containing the name “Epstein” are being blocked and that videos critical of Donald Trump or immigration police raids are being suppressed. These issues coincide with a management shake-up that placed US operations under investors linked to Trump.

High-profile figures, including the Governor of California and singer Billie Eilish, have voiced concerns. Governor Newsom has launched an inquiry to determine if the platform is violating state laws on free speech. Meanwhile, TikTok attributes some user issues, such as disappearing likes and views, to a “major infrastructure issue” caused by a power outage.

The transfer of the recommendation algorithm to Oracle, led by Trump ally Larry Ellison, has fueled fears about the platform’s neutrality. Despite the uproar, TikTok has issued a statement denying any specific policy against sharing the name Epstein and promises to investigate the user reports.
