Taliban Arrests Female Journalist Nazira Rashidi in Kunduz Province

طالبان ناظره رشیدی خبرنگار محلی را در قندوز بازداشت کردند

The Afghanistan Media Support Organization has reported that Taliban intelligence agents detained local journalist Nazira Rashidi in Kunduz province. According to the report, she was taken into custody on Tuesday, January 6, while leaving her home and was moved to an undisclosed location.

Her family states that Nazira is the sole provider for her younger siblings and has been held for four days without any clear charges. Media advocacy groups have demanded her immediate release and called on the authorities to ensure the safety and rights of female journalists.

This arrest highlights the severe challenges faced by women in the Afghan media sector under the current rule. Reports indicate that 55% of female journalists face personal threats, with many forced to work secretly or leave the profession entirely due to lack of freedom.
