UNICEF Restores Water Access for Thousands in Afghanistan
UNICEF has announced the successful restoration of water supply systems for over 26,000 people across Afghanistan. The rehabilitation projects were focused on the provinces of Kabul, Nangarhar, Jowzjan, and Badghis to aid communities hit hard by water scarcity.
Partnering with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the initiative aims to mitigate the severe impact of recent droughts. UNICEF stressed that access to safe water is a fundamental right that no child or family should be denied.
The need for such projects is critical, as previous reports indicate that 8 out of 10 Afghans are currently consuming contaminated water. These efforts represent a vital step toward improving public health and water security in vulnerable regions.
