Watchdog Condemns Arrest and Deportation of Afghan Journalists in Pakistan

The Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) has strongly denounced the arrest of four Afghan journalists and media workers by police in Islamabad. In a statement released on Saturday, January 10, the group labeled the forced deportation of one journalist as an illegal act and a direct threat to free speech.

AMSO has urgently called on the Pakistani government to release the detained individuals immediately and stop harassing Afghan media professionals. The organization highlighted that strict visa policies and police crackdowns are jeopardizing the safety and dignity of journalists seeking refuge in the country.

The watchdog appealed to the international community and civil society to take immediate practical steps to protect Afghan reporters in Pakistan. They emphasized that the lack of legal status and the threat of deportation require urgent attention from global human rights bodies.
