EU Supports Education for Over Five Thousand Deprived Afghan Children
The European Union’s humanitarian office in Asia has announced that it provided educational access for 5,250 children in Afghanistan. These children, who previously had no access to schooling, are now attending “community-based” classes to help build their future.
This initiative comes as UNICEF reports that four million children in Afghanistan remain out of school. The EU aims to reach those most marginalized, offering them a chance to learn despite the challenging circumstances in the country.
UNICEF highlights that the lack of school buildings, clean water, sanitation facilities, and teachers are major barriers to education. These community classes serve as a vital lifeline for children deprived of their basic right to learn.
