Ukraine Claims It Destroyed Six Russian Warplanes in Airfield Strike
Ukraine’s military claimed on Thursday that it had destroyed six Su-34M military aircraft in an overnight strike on the Borisoglebsk airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region. The general staff of Ukraine’s military said it had confirmed damage to all six aircraft. According to reports, the Ukrainian army used its domestically-produced Neptune anti-ship cruise missile system in the attack.
There has been no official confirmation from the Russian side so far regarding the attack or the alleged damage. The claimed Ukrainian attack comes two days after Russia launched a barrage of ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv and other locations. According to President Zelenskyy, those attacks, which primarily targeted energy facilities, killed six people and left approximately 600,000 without electricity.
