Trump Discusses Israeli Attack with Qatari Prime Minister

An unnamed White House official told Reuters that Donald Trump, the US President, met with Qatar’s Prime Minister in New York and had dinner together just days after Israel’s attack on Hamas leaders in Doha. Israel attempted to assassinate Hamas political leaders in an attack in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday.

Trump expressed displeasure about the attack in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and assured Qataris that such attacks would not be repeated. The official said Trump and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister, had dinner, joined by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s senior advisor.

Both sides discussed Qatar’s future role as a regional mediator and defense cooperation following Israel’s attacks against Hamas in Doha. Washington recognizes Qatar as a strong ally in the Persian Gulf region.
