Taliban Prevents 84 People from Illegally Traveling to Iran

Sources reported to the 8am newspaper on Monday, October 12, that the Taliban government’s forces have prevented 84 people, including women and children, from illegally traveling to Iran. The group was attempting to reach Iran through dangerous smuggling routes via Farah province. According to the sources, these individuals were seeking employment in Iran due to rising unemployment and economic hardships in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s 207th Al-Farooq Corps confirmed that it had prevented the smuggling of this 84-person group. The Taliban stated that the travelers were detained in the “Pashmaki” area of the Lash-o Juwayn district in Farah province and have been handed over to the relevant authorities. This incident occurs as economic problems and unemployment continue to worsen in Afghanistan, forcing many citizens to resort to perilous illegal migration routes in search of work in neighboring countries.
