Ministry of Public Health: In one month, nearly one million and 80 thousand people fell ill with respiratory diseases

After the publication of the World Health Organization’s report on the increase in acute respiratory infection in Afghanistan, the Taliban’s public health minister also confirmed the increase in this disease in the country.Sharaf Zaman, the spokesperson of the Taliban Ministry of Public Health, confirmed the increase of the disease in the country on Tuesday, 16 Mizan, and said that the graph of the respiratory disease has increased in different parts of the country.According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban, nearly 1.8 million people have contracted respiratory diseases in the first month of this year.The World Health Organization recently published a report on the increase in acute respiratory infections in the last two weeks of January this year in Afghanistan and said that in these two weeks, nearly 84,000 cases of acute respiratory infections have been registered in the country.In this report of the World Health Organization, it is also stated that from January 1 to the 27th of this month, 160,756 cases of acute respiratory infection were registered in Afghanistan, of which 383 people died due to this disease in 34 provinces of Afghanistan.However, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban, the number of deaths caused by respiratory diseases this year has decreased compared to the same time last year, due to the establishment of new health centers in different parts of the country. According to him, this issue is confirmed by the World Health Organization report.The World Health Organization has warned that breathing polluted and toxic air may lead to serious risks such as stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, shortness of breath and other chronic and acute respiratory diseases.However, the spokesman of the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health emphasized that children who suffer from respiratory diseases should be transferred to health centers in time to prevent casualties caused by the disease.It should be noted that from the beginning of last year to the end of last year, the World Health Organization had recorded 1,385,000 cases of acute respiratory disease and about 2,800 deaths due to it in the health centers under its coverage in Afghanistan.​
