International aid organizations have distributed cash and food aid to poor families in the Afghan provinces of Ghazni and Nangarhar.

In Ghazni, the World Food Programme (WFP) distributed cash assistance to 2,810 needy families in the city center. Each family received 3,200 Afghanis, or about $90, for a total of 9 million Afghanis In Nangarhar, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) distributed food aid to 880 families who had recently returned to the country from Pakistan. The aid included wheat flour, oil, lentils, and salt The aid comes as Afghanistan is facing a severe humanitarian crisis.
