India-Russia trade doubles to over $50 billion in 10 months
Trade between India and Russia has doubled in the past 10 months, reaching a record $54.7 billion, according to Sputnik news agency.
The increase in trade comes as India has sought to diversify its energy supplies and reduce its reliance on the United States and China. Russia is a major supplier of oil, gas, and other commodities to India.
The trade increase has also been driven by India’s growing demand for defense equipment. India has signed several major defense deals with Russia in recent years, including the purchase of S-400 air defense systems and the production of Ka-31 helicopters in India.
The increase in trade between India and Russia is seen as a sign of the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
