Venezuela Accuses US of Illegal Armed Attack at UN Council

Venezuela’s Ambassador Samuel Moncada accused the United States of launching an “illegitimate armed attack” during an emergency UN Security Council meeting. He stated that the US action was a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and lacked any legal justification .

Moncada warned that the attack, which allegedly occurred on January 3rd, threatens not only Venezuela’s sovereignty but also the authority of international law. He attributed the aggression to “greed” for his country’s vast natural resources .
