China and India congratulated Vladimir Putin for winning the Russian presidential election.
By congratulating Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed hope for the development of special relations between Delhi and Moscow.
Beijing has also said that it supports Russia. Meanwhile, the US State Department has called the Russian elections an undemocratic process.
But the West has condemned these elections as they were held illegally in the atmosphere of repression and lack of a valid competitor.
British Foreign Minister David Cameron has said that the elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine were illegal and that these elections in general show the depth of the repressive measures of the Putin regime.
As a result of this election, 71-year-old Vladimir Putin won another term as president with more than 87 percent of the votes.
Vladimir Putin has ruled Russia as the president or chancellor since 2000.
