Russian Interior Minister Visits Pakistan to Boost Cooperation

Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has arrived in Islamabad on an official visit at the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart, Mohsin Naqvi. Pakistani media reported on Monday, October 12, that the four-day visit aims to discuss the expansion of cooperation between Moscow and Islamabad. Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior stated that the Russian minister will meet with senior Pakistani officials.

The visit comes shortly after the eighth “Moscow Format” meeting on October 5, where representatives from Russia, Pakistan, the Taliban, China, Iran, India, and Central Asian countries discussed the situation in Afghanistan. Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, had previously stated that disagreements between the Pakistani and Taliban delegations prevented the adoption of a final declaration at the Moscow meeting.
