Kabulov: Russia-Afghanistan trade has doubled in six months

Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s Special Presidential Representative for Afghanistan, has announced that trade volume between Russia and Afghanistan doubled in the first six months of the current calendar year. Mr. Kabulov made the statement on Friday, October 16, during a meeting on Central Asian and Afghan security attended by representatives from the CSTO, CIS, and SCO.

While noting the low absolute volume of trade between the two countries, he said the increase is significant given Afghanistan’s condition after two decades of US and NATO military presence. The Russian special representative emphasized that Moscow will strive to maintain a stable and gradual growth trend in trade with Afghanistan. According to Kabulov, constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan is taking shape.
