Helmand’s Governor Appointed As New Suicide Commander of the Taliban
The Taliban’s supreme leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada has recently appointed Mawlawi Abdul Ahad as the new Omari Suicide Corps Commander for its group, a spokesman for the Taliban governor in Helmand said.
According to the spokesman, he was introduced to the members of Omari Suicide Corps by a delegation of Haibatullah on Saturday.
Mawlawi Abdul Ahad is known as Mawlawi Talib, previously served as the Taliban governor in Helmand and is one of the group’s most important commanders in this province.
Earlier, the Taliban group had announced the formation of a branch of its group called a special battalion of suicide bombers ‘Lashkar-e-Mansoori’ in the center of Badakhshan, Faizabad.
The Taliban suicide corps is one of the most important military units of the group, which has carried out deadly attacks in cities and public places for the last two decades.
About two months ago, the Taliban Acting Interior Minister during a special ceremony arranged at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul prized the suicide bombers by inviting their family members and passed condolences to those who have died from carrying out suicide attacks.
