Afghan refugees in Indonesia confirmed that one of them has recently committed suicide.

According to sources, Sayed Nader, an Afghan refugee in Indonesia, committed suicide on Saturday (January 15th).

Sayed Nader was a resident of the Jaghuri district of Ghazni province and lived with his family in Indonesia for about eight years as an asylum seeker.

Sayed Nader lived with his three daughters and a son in Pekanbaru, Indonesia, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

His friends told Hasht-e Subh that he had previously been treated for stress and mental problems and had previously received medication from aid organizations.

Sayed Nader has committed suicide after eight years of uncertainty and lack of resettlement.

Fourteen other asylum seekers have already committed suicide in Indonesia.

About 8,000 Afghan refugees are currently stranded in Indonesia.
