Three Dead, Two Wounded in Clashes Among Taliban Militants in Faryab

aliban officials in Faryab province confirmed that an armed clash took place between Anas and Bilal, two Taliban commanders in Bilcheragh district, in which Anas and two of Bilal’s bodyguards were killed.

Shamsuddin Mohammadi, the Taliban’s director of information and culture for Faryab, told Hasht-e Subh that a fight had taken place among the two militant groups in the village of Khaja Arab in Bilcheragh district. According to him, Anas, a Taliban commander, was killed along with two of Bilal’s bodyguards, and Bilal and one of his bodyguards were wounded.

Local Taliban officials have not commented on the motive for the clashes.

Earlier, on January 6, Taliban insurgents clashed in the Maimi district of Badakhshan province, killing three people and wounding four others.
