Taliban Withdraws Their Fighters from Panjshir, Local Sources Say
Local sources in Panjshir have confirmed that the Taliban group has started withdrawing its fighters from the province.
According to sources, the Taliban group has been systematically withdrawing most of its fighters from parts of Panjshir since Friday, June 24, 2022.
A video sent to Hasht-e Subh, showing dozens of Taliban fighters along with their vehicles are leaving the Chamalwarda district of Panjshir province this morning.
Although the exact motive for the Taliban’s withdrawal from Panjshir is still unknown, sources say they are likely to be sent to Balkhab district in Sar-e Pol to confront Commander Mehdi.
For the last three days, clashes between the Taliban and Mawalwi Mehdi have been going on in Balkhab district.
Meanwhile, the Taliban have launched airstrikes and ground operations to disarm Mawlawi Mehdi and seize Balkhab district in Sar-e Pol province.
In addition, the rebels have specifically targeted Commander Mehdi’s residence by an airstrike which is not only against the war morals but a clear effort of genocide against his family members.
The tension in Balkhab is more like attacking a particular ethnicity rather than punishing a commander of their own ranks.
