The Taliban rebels detained and severely tortured Abdul Munir Amini on Tuesday last week who wanted to go to his lands in the Malaspa village of Panjshir province. He died due to intense torture and injuries. His dead body was found behind his house in the village.

Abdul Munir was the father of seven children and the only breadwinner of his family members.

In response to his death, the residents of Malaspa village marched demonstration, but the Taliban prevented the protest by deploying many Red Army fighters in a number of villages.

Rohullah Shah Malang, the Taliban’s Acting Deputy Governor for Panjshir, said, “Do not demonstrate, we have heard your voice and we will address your concerns to the military committee. The military committee is the sole decision-maker.”

“Take a video and send it to the media, the media will come to help you,” Shah Malang said sarcastically.

As clashes have escalated in recent weeks between the National Resistance Front forces and the Taliban rebels, torture and killings of innocent civilians by the Taliban have increased in Panjshir, Andarab Baghlan, and some other provinces in the country.
