The United Nations Security Council has approved a resolution to establish an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza
On Monday, March 25, the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, the immediate and unconditional release of hostages and the “urgent need to expand the flow of aid” to Gaza.
This resolution had 14 votes in favor and America abstained.
This resolution still calls on the conflicting parties in Gaza to abide by international law.
Ammar Benjama, the Algerian ambassador to the United Nations, said that this draft will end the killings that have been going on for five months.
He stated: “The bloodbath has been too long. Finally, the Security Council will finally respond to the requests of the international community and the Secretary General.
Meanwhile, Washington had previously vetoed several previous UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire.
