The reporter of a Japanese media in Kabul was released from Taliban prison after nine days.
The Center of Afghan Journalists announced that Ehsan Akbari, the reporter of Japan’s “Kyudo” news agency, who was arrested nine days ago by the intelligence of the Taliban in Kabul, has been released.
A member of Ehsan Akbari’s family told the Afghan Journalists’ Center that this journalist was released around 3:00 pm today (Thursday, 5th of April). Another source said that Ehsan Akbari was released by “giving a pledge” and some of his identity documents were seized by the Taliban intelligence.
While welcoming the release of this journalist, the Center of Afghan Journalists has stated that his arrest was illegal and his freedom should not have been taken away.
Ehsan Akbari was summoned to the information and media center of the Taliban government and arrested on 27th.
