Uzbekistan Reduces Its Electricity to Afghanistan by 60%

Kabul – Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) announced that Uzbekistan has reduced its electricity exports to Afghanistan by 60 percent.

Today (Wednesday, January 12th), Breshna Sherkat issued a statement saying that Uzbekistan had reduced electricity imports by 60 percent without any coordination with them.

Breshna quoted Uzbek officials as saying that the reason for the decrease was a technical problem with the country’s substation Tilimarjan.

The problem would be resolved within the next two to three days, the statement added.

Currently, electricity in 16 provinces is facing a stroke due to power cuts by Uzbekistan.

Although the main reason for Uzbekistan’s power outage is still unknown, the defense minister of the Taliban warned that country yesterday to return Afghanistan’s helicopters.

Meanwhile, many former government officials, including Ashraf Ghani, had taken a number of Afghan helicopters with them to Uzbekistan during the fall of Kabul, and these helicopters have not yet been returned.
