Turkish Author: ‘The Media’s Silence Is Shocking’

Kabul – Elif Shafak, the Turkish author, who has written “The Forty Rules of Love” has criticized the suppression of women’s protests in Afghanistan and the world’s silence on the issue.

This well-known author tweeted on Sunday that female protesters in Afghanistan are being physically abused and electrical devices and pepper spray are used to stop their protest.

Moreover, by criticizing the world’s response to the violence and the detention of protesters in Kabul, she said: “The silence of the international media is shocking.”

The well-known Turkish writer has made the criticism while it is claimed that at least two women protesters have been detained by the Taliban after marching against the violations of their rights.
