Oslo Talks – Taliban Promises to Reopen Women’s Ministry
Sources at the Oslo meeting told Baano TV that the Taliban had promised to reopen the Ministry of Women’s Affairs.
The source said that the Taliban government’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi told women and civil activists at the meeting that they were working on a plan to re-establish the Ministry of Women’s Affairs per Islamic standards.
According to the source, the Taliban delegation has pledged that the Taliban-led government will not suppress the women’s protests, adding that they will release the protesters if their detention is confirmed.
The source added that the talks took place in a calm atmosphere, saying that the Taliban also had promised to reopen schools and universities to women.
The women activists participating in the meeting said that they not only want the reopening of schools and universities but also women’s participation in the political and economic spheres.
The meeting was held today in Oslo between the Taliban delegation and civil activists.
